Travel in 2020 was all about getting outside. Preferably with as few people as possible. One of my closest friends and I decided to drive down to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia for a day of driving and hiking through fall foliage. We were a little past peak colors (the higher elevations were pretty bare) but we didn’t care. We ate lunch sitting in the backs of our hatchbacks, drove the northern 1/2(-ish) of Skyline Drive, and went hiking to Dark Hollow Falls (National Park Service link). It was a great day away in the middle of the pandemic.
